Morningstar Investment Management
Mike Coop is Head of Multi-Asset Portfolio Management for Morningstar Investment Management in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He is primarily responsible for Morningstar’s managed portfolios offering in the region and chairs Morningstar Investment Management’s Portfolio Committee. He also serves as lead manager of the Morningstar Real Return Managed Portfolios range. Mike has over 25 years’ financial services experience and joins from Prudential Portfolio Management where he was Head of Multi Asset Portfolio Management. Before joining Prudential, Mike served as Head of Multi-Asset Strategies at Ibbotson Associates Australia, a business previously acquired by Morningstar. At Ibbotson, Mike managed globally invested multi-asset portfolios and additionally also served as a member of the Global Dynamic Asset Allocation Committee. Earlier in his career he was an equity strategist at BT Investment Management, a global asset allocation strategist at AXA Investment Managers, and a manager research consultant at Bacon & Woodrow. Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland and a MSc. Finance from Birkbeck College, University of London. He is an Associate of the Institute of Investment Management & Research (IMMR).

Dan Kemp is Chief Investment Officer for Morningstar’s Investment Management group for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Dan leads Morningstar’s 20-strong investment management team for the EMEA region, working with advisers and institutions to help them deliver world-class investment solutions to investors. Dan joined Morningstar in 2014 as co-Head of Investment Consulting and Portfolio Management in the EMEA region. He previously served with Albemarle Street Partners, an investment consultancy partnership that he co-founded. Prior to Albemarle, he worked for Saltus Partners, managing the firm’s flagship Saltus Multi Asset Class Fund. He has also worked as fund manager and head of fund research for Williams de Broë (formerly Christows). Dan has 19 years’ experience in research, investment management and investment consulting. He has managed a wide variety of portfolios, specialising in multi-asset risk graded products. He is also a well-known commentator on investment issues.

Keith Balmer is a Director and Product Specialist within the Multi-Asset Investment team. He joined the company in 2016. Previously he was a Director at BlackRock within their multi-asset division and Man Group working with AHL the systematic managed futures manager. Keith graduated from Exeter University with a BSc (Hons.) in Mathematics with European Studies.

Richard joined Rubicon in March 2013 as Head of Research/Portfolio Manager. Prior to this he was the Global Chief Investment Officer at Citi Private Bank where he was also Chairman of the Global Investment Committee. During this time he initiated profound changes in their tactical and strategic asset-allocation methodology. Before Citi, Richard was global head of asset-allocation research at HSBC. Prior to that, he was international finance editor at The Economist newspaper and founder of the Buttonwood column. Richard received a Bachelor of Arts degree from New College, Oxford, where he read Philosophy, Politics & Economics.

Steven graduated BAcc in Economics and Accountancy from the University of Glasgow in 1992 and completed a MSc in Economics from Warwick University in 1993. Prior to joining Baillie Gifford, Steven was a fixed income investment manager with Scottish Widows. His experience includes seven years undertaking analysis and research for the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, and involvement in managing the UK’s foreign exchange reserves. Steven joined Baillie Gifford in 2004 and is Head of the Rates and Currencies Team.
Goldman Sachs Asset Management
Brendan is a vice president leading the International Portfolio Strategy team of Strategic Advisory Solutions. Brendan helps European, Asian, and African financial institutions serving retail and high-net-worth investors, corporate retirement plans, and other institutional investors develop investment policy and strategy. Brendan joined Goldman Sachs in 2008 as a regional consultant within GSAM’s Third Party Distribution group, focusing on the firm’s wire-house relationships. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Brendan ran a practice as a financial advisor at Ameriprise Financial. Brendan received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and his B.A. in Finance from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan.
Rob joined Orbis in 2011. He is a member of Orbis’ team of investment counsellors, with primary responsibility for covering the Global Balanced Strategy. Rob has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Carnegie Mellon University, and is a CFA charterholder.
