Behavioural finance in a multi-asset context
The field of behavioural finance explores psychological and cognitive biases as to why people tend to make irrational investment decisions, such as ‘loss aversion' and ‘home bias'. These decisions can often be detractors to investment performance over the long term. Jihad Younan and David Copsey, on the Multi-Asset Team within GSAM, will highlight some of these biases and share their views on how a globally diversified, dynamic and risk-managed multi-asset fund can help mitigate the resulting pitfalls in some instances, while generating additional returns in others. The session will also seek to illustrate how behavioural finance plays a role in managing the desired outcome of our multi-asset funds.

Now celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, the Baillie Gifford Managed Fund balances equity exposure with bonds and cash aiming to provide above average returns through carefully managed diversification. In an ever more complex world (especially where financial instruments are concerned) we think simplicity is key. This long-term, patient, bottom up stock picking style is a proven approach that rises above passing trends elegantly combining the best ideas of our regional teams with a blend of our fixed income picks. An ongoing charge figure of 0.44% on the clean share class completes the stylish ensemble. Not sure what the dress code is in an uncertain world? You might want to leave those funky names in the wardrobe and stick to the classic that is the Baillie Gifford Managed Fund. It is one fund your clients are unlikely to look back on with embarrassment.
